When you arrive you’ll find us on the basement level. Our reception staff will greet you, help you fill out any necessary forms and introduce you to your radiographer or consultant. You will have a brief consultation where the scan procedure is explained and any questions are answered.

If you have to wait, it will only be for a short period. In the meantime, feel free to surf the net using our free Wi-Fi, enjoy a hot drink and a biscuit (so long as this doesn’t interfere with your scan).

Yes. We see many patients with claustrophobia, as well as those who are anxious or concerned. Our radiographers and consultants are trained to help you feel at ease.

MRIs, in particular, can appear quite daunting. Please bear in mind that:

• The scanner is open at both ends and in a spacious room. Many of our patients mention how much this helps reduce the feeling of being enclosed

• Depending on what area of the body you are having examined, your head may even be able to stay outside of the machine.

• You will be given a handheld control that you can press at any time to stop the scan and come out of the machine

If you would like to talk through your concerns with a radiographer, don’t hesitate to contact us on 020 7042 1888. One of our radiographers will be happy to talk to you and put your mind at ease.

It will be one of our top priorities. You will be able to stay with your child throughout their appointment, including during the scan.

We recommend that you prepare your child of what to expect. You can do this using our clear and simple patient guides.

As an example, MRIs will require your child to lie in an open-ended tube. They will be asked to stay very still, so you could practise this beforehand. The MRI machine makes loud rhythmic noises, but the radiographer will give them headphones to cover their ears.

If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us on 020 7042 1888. One of our radiographers will be happy to talk to you and put your mind at ease.

A Consultant Radiologist will analyse your scan almost immediately and send a report to your referring clinician. This will happen within one working day. Please note that we do not provide patients with a copy of the report, you need to arrange an appointment with your referring clinician to discuss the results. You will be able to take away a CD containing your scan images.

We can arrange for this if necessary. But this must be done by prior request, so please try to give us as much notice as possible so we can make arrangements.

There is no harm in including it. It is important to provide as complete and as accurate information as possible. You will have the chance to discuss any concerns with the radiographer or consultant before the scan. Alternatively, please do not hesitate to contact us on 020 7042 1888. We’ll be happy to help.
